Two week update on being owners of Welcome Station RV Park

Today marks two weeks since our lifestyle change.  It's been a whirlwind!  Mostly a fun one, even with the long hours and hard work.  Steve is handling the phone and parking and I am learning the ropes of running a business using Quickbooks and not having much of an office!  The former owner left behind a couple of old chairs and tables, a tv cart, a small bookshelf and voila, an office!

The house was not clean, and is still in the process of becoming so but one of the renters has helped me and we've had some great times and she and her hubby have played games with us. (always a favorite of ours)

The first Sunday, we were swamped and overwhelmed and wanted to get to church but didn't make it and then that evening a fellow arrived, wanting to know if anyone played country or Gospel guitar!  Well, right there and then we had our first "house concert" in our humble abode and  we enjoyed his playing!  I did pretty well keeping up with him on Gospel songs I hadn't heard before and had loads of fun!

The folks who come are mostly amazing!  And they are simply overjoyed at being in the beautiful surroundings here.  Really, there are none around anywhere like this!  Today, a couple arrived and their mouths dropped. "We're from Wisconsin and this is the closest to home we've felt with the green grass and the trees.  We don't want to leave!"  And they are spending two nights!

Yesterday, two special couples arrived.  One of the ladies was a rock painter.  She came into our little house and looked at everything and came toting a cute little painted rock with a little ladybug and color on it.  And this morning she brought me another one, one she had worked on after she saw the colors I am playing with in the kitchen.  So thoughtful!  She said every desk needs a rock to hold papers!

The other couple were on their way to Green Valley, AZ and he was in the camera club there.  In a little while he came toting two 8x10 pics he had taken of one of the big willows and of the pond, all lovely and photoshopped and printed out!  Such generosity of these folks!

We're getting the hang of it here and summer is almost over and things should be slowing down a bit.  We were swamped on Labor Day weekend and the visitors got a special treat. Monday, there was a cattle drive right in front of the RV Park,  a couple hundred of "my cows" heading to the bottom land where it is greener and more feed.  I sure do miss seeing them on my morning walks.  I've seen deer and two huge antelope.  We have two big owls...not great horned but huge...maybe short eared.  Ha, I haven't had time to research that!  Also there is a hawk who comes and sits on our bridge rails and swoops along.

The leaves are beginning to fall when the wind picks up and the thunderstorm outflow winds begin.  We have a wedding here on October 7th.  What a lovely place for that!  We will be promoting more weddings in the future.

The fellow who sold us the property went back to California where his wife had gone for health reasons...and she passed Monday.  They were together for 11 days before she went to be with Jesus.  He still had not gotten all of the things she wanted to have.  It reminds us we can't take anything with us...just loving the Lord and living a life to bring Him glory.  I surprised a gal in Home Depot the other day.  She had missed an item in the cart and I found it when I was loading the truck so I went back and told her.  She couldn't believe I had done that and she told me that no one does that anymore.  I said, it wasn't right and I needed to pay for it...she thanked me profusely!  It's the little things!

Every day is an adventure!  Yesterday, two guys arrived who had been driving and cooking for the Rockefellers!  They traveled around for two weeks at the National Parks going to places only VIPs get to go.  And he showed us pics of him driving right onto the tarmac at Jackson Hole airport and letting out Mr. Rockefeller to get into his private jet to fly home.  Oh, the stories we get to hear!

Tye is our best alarm!  Anyone who drives up he barks...we may not see or hear them but he has his "someone's here" bark.  And he is getting so spoiled as many give him big hugs! And he loves rolling in the grass and standing in the stream and just trying to keep up with us!

Ok..thought I'd update you all.  We're having fun, sleeping well and longing to see each of you!  Who will be the first to visit us????

Make it a great tomorrow....
