Really, I still don't believe it!

Life ....difficult and sad times.....blessings.....dreams fulfilled.....The Lord's leading.....something SOOO different!

These past weeks have been such a whirlwind.  If I might have your attention, sit and relax and just read about it all here while I share with you.  Thanks...make yourself comfortable.  If your're one of our friends, who know us well, this will be an interesting story!!!

Rewind to the middle of July when we are with our Wyoming friends where we spend a month a year....and we are enjoying a week long camp out with them....Such an idyllic spot and great weather and good company and fun!

We had enjoyed some wonderful times around a campfire with their son, Ryan....
And the next morning he left to go to work (sheriff) .....but he returned in about 20 minutes saying that  he had been contacted that Steve's dad was in the hospital and that we should call our daughter immediately.  Steve called and his dad was not doing well, had been in the hospital a month before and at 91...with pneumonia and several other ailments...his numbers were not good.  So, we broke camp, packed up everything.  Deb packed my bags while I got the inside of the rig road ready and Randy helped Steve outside.  We headed back to their house, parked the motorhome and headed for California...close to non-stop 1 pm to 4:45 am.  and arrived at our son's.  We slept a few hours and then went with Karen to the hospital.  His dad was a bit improved.  We spent a few days there on and off with him and then headed back to Wyoming.

We decided to head back the northern route to save a few degrees and to see different scenery.
We enjoyed a few more days in Wyoming.  You've got to love the look of those mountains!....and then the call came that Steve's dad had been discharged from the hospital, sent home, fallen getting to the bathroom and the sister in law had ordered 24 hour care.  Steve made the decision we should head back.  His dad was on hospice now and so we headed with the motorhome to California going the Northern route once again to try to keep cooler.  We traveled a long day...and remembered a sweet place we had stayed a few times before.  Steve called and made reservations and a few hours later we pulled into Welcome Station RV Park west of Wells Nevada, exit 343 Interstate 80 about 40 minutes east of Elko, Nevada.

We had stayed here 13 years and 11 years previous and simply loved this oasis in the middle of the high desert.  There are two streams running through the property, one on each side with all the water coming from the 11,000 foot mountain south of the park.

Steve and I had told each other if this property ever came up for sale that we would love to have it.  In talking with the caretaker there, Steve mentioned that the last time we were there, three dogs were barking from the yard at the house.  The caretaker shared that the dogs were now gone and they belonged to the owner whose wife was not in the best of health and that he was selling the property and moving to California to be near family.   What?  Selling the property???  This place...with a house and RV sites and running streams and incredibly huge trees?

We headed out the next morning and left our number with the caretaker and told him to share our interest in the property.

We arrived in Fresno and it turned hot...108 and we spent hours with Steve's Dad and had some precious times with him, seeing the grace of God at work during that week.  On Thursday we got a call from the caretaker saying someone had made an offer on the property.  We were sad...the pull of this property strong on our hearts.  And then, on Friday we got a call from the owner saying that the folks couldn't buy the property and wondered if we were still interested.  Long story short....

Welcome Station RV Park is now in Escrow for us!  We will become Nevadans, we have an LLC, and we're heading back to the RV Park in a few days to do a million things it takes to begin a business.  But we're both looking forward to it, still desiring to travel too, but enjoying setting up a house which we have not lived in for 15 years being full-time RVers.  Never underestimate the Lord's leading or His plan....which we have found are most often not our plans.

Steve's dad passed away the next morning early....a sad time but with a new adventure on the horizon.  We hope you all stop by!

Thanks for taking the time to read of our up and coming adventure!  Stay tuned for more information.  Website and Facebook page coming soon!

  1. That is greally news about your purchase.
Sorry for the loss of your Dad. Mine died 18 months ago, 2 months after his 100th birthday. I still miss being able to see him. The last years were in nursing care, so a bittersweet time. Even with your loss, the miracle of being at the park because of going to be with Dad, and now you own it!
I hope that I can stop by one day soon, looks lovely!
