Cottonwood Canyon Trailhead Trail Lower Portion

Cars and trucks zoom by at 75 mph on Interstate 15 one after the other, wildly dashing to their destination.  And not far from here, actually a 30 minute hike is beauty to behold rich and full of color and texture and God's awe inspiring hand.  Cottonwood Canyon trailhead is where I traipsed this morning as the sun just filled the morning sky with light and reflected off the somewhat cloudy sky in a burst of grand brilliance.  Tye has this morning routine down as I unload him from the truck and he waits, most times not so patiently, for me to exchange by tennies for my hiking boots and get on my pack and adjust his walking leash around my middle, turn on Pastor Jon's sermon on my Ipod and head off into the vast unknown for a savored walk with what God has created.

Today I wandered for about 15 minutes not seeing much but as I approached the wash there were flowers to be seen, exquisite in their beauty.  I am getting a bit better at taking up close pics with my camera phone while the wind blows and Tye pulls on the leash and I breathe from the uphill exertion!  LOL

I walk rather slow today, there are rocks, there is sand and it reminds me that in life there are obstacles in our way and it is how we meander through them that counts.  It is how we see, how we react, how we get our eyes off of ourselves and on to what is off the trail.  I haven't done very well in the past months of "seeing" and my focus has been horribly on me as life had wearied me.  Put your eyes on Jesus...the author and perfecter of your faith.  Eyes on Jesus, His unfailing  love and sacrifice.  Life is so short here on earth.  I have been considering lately how we need to keep sight on heaven and on eternity!

I took a trail to the right to Red Cliff....and discovered it was a long walk in deep red sand in a wash!
But Tye enjoyed it!
I stopped here for a break and rest and to enjoy the moment gazing at this big red mountain.  I can only dream what the trail ahead would look like could I continue.

On my way back to the truck I was listening to Shannon Wexellburg singing about the Holy Spirit pouring down like rain and refreshing me....and it is happening as I bask in these treasured hikes and these times of quiet contemplation.   The Lord continues to delight me this spring with flowers!  I am constantly amazed at the intricacy in them, the astounding beauty they add to the background of rocks and sand and desert shrubs.  Enjoy these from the lower portion of Cottonwood Canyon.

Thanks for stopping by!
